Samuel Hobson House, a care home in Wolstanton that specialises in Dementia care and elderly frail care has received an overall ‘Good’ rating in an unannounced inspection last month.
The report, which is published today, said that improvements which were required following a previous inspection in November 2014 had all been made.
The report stated that “staff treated people with kindness and compassion and people’s dignity and privacy was promoted. People were encouraged to make choices about their care and staff respected the choices people made.”
The Care Quality Commission, which carried out the inspection, looks at five key areas, including the safety of the service, its effectiveness and whether it is caring, responsive and well-led. In all of these areas, Samuel Hobson House was graded as ‘Good’ – one grade below ‘Outstanding’ and a significant improvement from the last inspection.
The care home had drawn on feedback from its residents and their families as well as staff and used this to help improve the quality of care. The report stated that there was now a “positive atmosphere within the home and the manager and provider regularly assessed and monitored the quality of care to ensure standards were met and maintained.” Manager at Samuel Hobson House, Vicky Smith said; “The home owners employed me following the last inspection in November. My key aim was to improve the home and we really took on board the comments from the CQC and have worked hard to make sure that the necessary improvements were made. As always, our top priority is our residents and their families and we will continue to strive to offer the highest level of care and support.
“Keeping our staff informed and fully up to date with the latest training opportunities with the help of the Acacia Group is very important to us. Working with patients with Dementia is a very delicate area and specialist training is essential to ensuring those entrusted to our care are treated with the utmost compassion and dignity. ”
Samuel Hobson House will be holding a Summer Fete on 25th July at 2pm, and welcomes all those who would like to go along and have a look at the home and its facilities.
